We serve your breakfast each morning around our Amish-made oak table in the sunny dining room. Even guests who skip a big breakfast at home can usually be tempted by the home cooked breakfasts here. We try to accommodate dietary restrictions as much as possible. Please let us know when you make your reservation if you have any food allergies or special dietary requests.
Whatever the season, breakfast at McDowell-Nearing House is a perfect complement to your stay.
When you come downstairs you will be greeted by the aroma of coffee brewing and a muffin and fruit dish will be waiting for you. A hot entree follows and might include an egg dish or whole-grain pancakes with Vermont maple syrup and a breakfast meat.
A selection of yogurt and cold cereal is available for smaller appetites.
Early risers are welcome to savor their coffee or tea in our parlor or library. Although we encourage our guests to enjoy breakfast in the dining room, if you prefer to eat in your room you can arrange to do so at check-in.
We can accommodate most breakfast times depending on your needs for the day. One morning each year we serve triathletes before the Muncie Half Ironman.
On other mornings if you must leave super early, we will see that you don't leave hungry. By prior arrangement we will prepare a “before hours brown bag breakfast”. Be sure to ask about this at check in.
We try to accommodate dietary restrictions with advance notice. Please let us know when you make your reservation if you have any food allergies or special dietary requests.
The dining room is open 24 hours a day. A guest refrigerator is stocked with water and soda. Coffee, tea, and other hot beverages are available to enjoy with home baked cookies or store-bought snacks. A microwave and popcorn are also there.
